While doing this quality assessment it opened my eyes (even more than my annotated bibliography) on critically appraising literature. I used an article that looked at pediatricians, and family physicians knowledge, confidence, and practice habits surrounding oral health in children. While there were portions of this paper that could be improved upon, and things that could impact the results, such as the sample size and the exclusion of all primary healthcare (mainly excluding nurse practitioners). Dentistry isn’t as large of a research field as medicine, which makes it difficult to find quality reliable studies, so often you have to take what is available & use your judgement on how consistent, and reliable that evidence is.
